Looking for a new and cheap media player?
The $25 iPod alternative
Before you rush out to buy a new player, you might want to crack the manual for your cellular phone first. Many newer phones - especially the smarts ones, like Blackberry, Treo and some Nokia devices – have music storage and playback capability. They can also play video files and display photos. While the storage on these devices does not match the generous space on dedicated music players, they do have data card slots to expand the memory for media files. Some phones can take a MicroSD card or other data card formats to expand space for media files. The Blackberry slot, for example, is under the battery. A 1 GB MicroSD card ($24.99) can hold more than 200 songs. Double that for a 2 GB card ($30.99).
