Show File Attributes in Windows Explorer
To show file attributes in Windows Explorer in Windows 98, go to the View menu and choose Folder Options and select the View tab, and put a check-mark next to Show file attributes in Detail View.
In Windows ME, right-click on the gray bar above the file listings. Click to put a check-mark next to the Attributes item. Sometimes these options are not present.
If they are not, you can turn it on using this registry edit:
- Start the Registry Editor by going to Start > Run and type regedit and then click OK.
- Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced
- Double-click the entry ShowAttribCol and change the value from 0 to 1. If the entry ShowAttribCol doesn’t exist, you can create it by going to the Edit menu, and choosing New, then DWORD Value.
Restart your computer to see the changes.
